Best bourbon + cigar pairings — what's your go-to combo?

Friday night ritual: one good cigar, one good pour, zero responsibilities. I'm always looking for new combos. My current favorites: - **Padron 1964 + Woodford Double Oaked**: The chocolate/dark fruit from both just meld together perfectly - **Oliva Serie V + Wild Turkey Rare Breed**: Big bold flavors on both sides, neither overpowers the other - **Arturo Fuente Hemingway + Eagle Rare**: More mellow, great for when you want to actually taste nuance What are your go-to pairings? Bonus points for under-the-radar combos. I feel like I'm stuck in a rut.

Great list. The Padron 1964 + Double Oaked combo is chef's kiss. My curveball recommendation: try a **My Father Le Bijou 1922** with **Elijah Craig Barrel Proof**. The cigar has this dark chocolate and espresso thing going on, and the EC barrel proof brings enough sweetness and heat to stand up to it without getting lost. It's intense but in the best way. For something more chill, **Perdomo Champagne 10th Anniversary** with **Four Roses Single Barrel**. Creamy cigar, fruity bourbon. Sounds weird, works perfectly.

Hear me out: swap bourbon for rye with your next cigar. **Knob Creek Rye + Liga Privada No. 9** is one of the best things I've ever put in my mouth (phrasing). The spiciness of the rye plays off the dark, leathery notes of the Liga in a way bourbon can't. Also, if you ever get your hands on a barrel proof rye — Pikesville or Willett — pair it with anything Padron. The pepper and spice just amplifies everything.

I don't know anything about cigars yet but this thread is making me want to learn. Is there a good "starter cigar" for someone who's never smoked one? Preferably something that pairs with the Redbreast 12 that got me into whiskey in the first place.
