Unpopular opinion: Four Roses Small Batch Select is the best daily sipper under $60

I know everyone reaches for Buffalo Trace or Woodford Reserve as their go-to, but hear me out. Four Roses Small Batch Select at around $55 hits this perfect sweet spot of complexity and drinkability that I haven't found anywhere else at the price. The mouthfeel is silky, the proof (104) is high enough to carry flavor but not so hot that you need water. Caramel, ripe fruit, baking spice — it just works neat every single time. I've gone through four bottles this year alone. What's your daily driver in the under-$60 range? Curious if I'm missing something obvious.

Strong pick. Mine is Russell's Reserve 10 Year at $38. It doesn't get the hype it deserves because Wild Turkey isn't trendy, but Jimmy Russell has been making whiskey longer than most distilleries have existed. The 10 Year has this deep caramel and dried fruit thing going on that drinks way above its price. At $38, it's almost criminal.

Knob Creek 9 Year. $36, 100 proof, and it's essentially a baby Booker's. Thick, nutty, tons of oak. I pour it when I want something that feels substantial without reaching for barrel proof. The fact that they brought the age statement back makes it even better.

I'll throw a curveball — Evan Williams Single Barrel vintage. Usually around $28-32 and it punches absurdly above its weight. Each vintage year tastes slightly different, which keeps it interesting. Last year's had this beautiful cherry-vanilla thing happening.

Just tried the Four Roses Small Batch Select based on this post. You were right — it's incredible. I've been drinking mostly Woodford and this is a clear step up. Thanks for the recommendation!
