The great reposado debate: Fortaleza vs. G4 vs. Pasote — which one wins?
These three are constantly recommended as the gold standard for reposado tequila, and I've been lucky enough to have all three in my cabinet right now. After a side-by-side tasting last weekend, here's where I landed:
**Fortaleza** — The most traditionally "tequila" of the three. Cooked agave is front and center, with butterscotch and a hint of cinnamon from the barrel. Beautiful viscous texture. It's the one I reach for when I want something contemplative.
**G4** — Cleaner and more precise. The agave is crisp, almost mineral-driven, with light oak and vanilla. It feels modern without losing its soul. Best in a cocktail, though it sips beautifully too.
**Pasote** — My personal favorite, and I think it's the most underrated. There's this tropical fruit note — mango, papaya — layered over the agave that's just gorgeous. Plus the barrel influence is integrated rather than dominating.
Where do you all land? Am I crazy for putting Pasote on top?

Fortaleza every time. The tahona-crushed agave gives it a texture that the others can't match. It's like comparing hand-rolled pasta to machine-made — both are good, but one has soul. That said, I haven't given Pasote a fair shot, so maybe I need to revisit.
I'm relatively new to sipping tequila (used to only drink it in margaritas, don't judge me) and G4 Repo was the bottle that changed everything. The clean agave flavor made it click for me. I want to try Fortaleza next — is the Blanco worth it too or should I go straight for the Repo?
