Leiper's Fork Distillery is the Williamson County, Tennessee operation just outside Franklin that's built itself into one of the most respected craft Tennessee whiskey producers since opening in 2016 — and one of the few craft Tennessee distilleries currently producing whiskey using the full Lincoln County Process (charcoal mellowing) outside of Jack Daniel's and George Dickel. Founded by Lee Kennedy in the village of Leiper's Fork (population roughly 650, an unincorporated community 30 minutes south of Nashville known for its concentration of musicians, artists, and country-music celebrity homes), the distillery sits on a hillside property with the visitor center, production facility, and small rickhouse all visible from a single vantage point.

The technical commitment to the Lincoln County Process is the distinctive element of the Leiper's Fork program. The new-make whiskey filters through sugar maple charcoal stacks on-site — sugar maple sourced and burned to charcoal on the property, the original Tennessee whiskey methodology that distinguishes the legal category from bourbon. The charcoal-mellowing step adds production complexity and time that most craft producers skip, which makes Leiper's Fork's full-process Tennessee bourbon a relatively rare modern product.

The mash bill program covers both standard Tennessee bourbon (high-corn, low-rye) and a notable high-rye Tennessee whiskey that pushes against the typical Tennessee-whiskey flavor profile by adding spice and pepper character to the charcoal-mellowed sweetness. Single-barrel and bottled-in-bond releases anchor the higher tier of the range, alongside the standard small-batch flagship and a small range of finishes and limited bottlings. The Bourbon Whiskey Society limited-release program has built a quiet collector following among Nashville-area whiskey enthusiasts.

The Leiper's Fork visitor experience is intimate by design — small tour groups, often led by Kennedy or a member of the small core team, with the production floor, charcoal-mellowing house, and rickhouse all walkable on a single hillside loop. The village of Leiper's Fork itself is the secondary attraction: a restored historic Main Street with restaurants (Puckett's Grocery & Restaurant, the original location), live music venues, and the kind of slow-pace Saturday-afternoon character that Williamson County has otherwise mostly lost to suburban Franklin expansion. The distillery's combined small-batch product range and the off-the-beaten-path location make it the natural Nashville-area pairing with Corsair (East Nashville urban) and Nelson's Green Brier (downtown Nashville) for a complete Tennessee craft tour.
