Ironroot Republic Distilling is the Denison, Texas craft American whiskey operation founded by brothers Robert and Jonathan Likarish — and the rare Texas distillery whose technical foundation was built explicitly around French distillation pedagogy rather than the standard Kentucky bourbon production template. The Likarish brothers studied at Distillerie Tessendier (the historically significant French cognac distilling operation) before launching Ironroot Republic in 2010 in their hometown of Denison (population approximately 25,000, in Grayson County immediately south of the Texas-Oklahoma border roughly 75 miles north of Dallas).

The French distillation background is editorially significant for what Ironroot produces.
