Location
Firestone & Robertson Distilling Co. is the Fort Worth, Texas craft whiskey operation behind the TX brand of premium American whiskey — and the producer whose 2019 acquisition by Pernod Ricard made it one of the first major craft Texas whiskey brands to be acquired by a global spirits major. Founded in 2010 by Leonard Firestone (whose pre-distilling career was in political science) and Troy Robertson (whose background was in oil and gas), the operation occupies a 112-acre property called Whiskey Ranch on what was historically the Glen Garden Country Club in southeast Fort Worth — a golf course where Texas legends Ben Hogan, Byron Nelson, and Sandra Palmer began their careers, with the historic course preserved on the property for charity and private events.
The TX brand is the operation's commercial centerpiece. TX Blended Whiskey launched in 2012, and the TX Straight Bourbon — aged for over four years and released for the first time in December 2016 — became the brand's premium tier release. The TX visual identity is built around explicit Texas-and-Western cultural cues: bottle tops hand-made from boot leather, canvas neck wraps referencing pioneer covered wagons, and a silver band around each bottle's base symbolizing Western culture craftsmanship. The brand's mash bills lean on Texas-sourced grain (corn, wheat, malted barley) with the regional climate-accelerated aging that's the Texas whiskey signature.
Pernod Ricard — through its Pernod Ricard USA subsidiary — announced the acquisition of Firestone & Robertson in August 2019. The deal made TX one of the first major craft Texas whiskey brands to join a global spirits portfolio (Pernod Ricard also owns Jameson, Absolut, The Glenlivet, Chivas Regal, Wild Turkey, and most other major non-Diageo international whiskey brands). The acquisition kept Firestone and Robertson on as operational leadership and folded the TX brand into Pernod Ricard's broader American whiskey portfolio. The Pernod Ricard distribution backbone has anchored the TX brand's substantial scaling through national and international markets.
The Whiskey Ranch visitor experience is one of the most ambitious craft distillery destinations in Texas. The 112-acre property includes the working distillery, the rickhouses, the historic Glen Garden Country Club golf course (preserved as 9-hole charity course), the on-site tasting room, an event venue program, and substantial visitor programming. The Fort Worth location puts TX at the center of the broader Fort Worth craft-spirits scene alongside Blackland Distillery and Acre Distilling, with Whiskey Ranch operating as the destination anchor of the entire region's craft-spirits tourism economy.
